WHAT WE BELIEVE

As Baptist we believe in the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the Authority of the Scripture for faith and practice. Because of these beliefs we have chosen to practice our Christian faith as members of

a Baptist Church. We believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation and eternal life. We believe a personal decision must be made by each individual to repent of his sins and trust Him as Lord and Savior. We believe that our Christianity is not inherited from our parents. It is an individual decision to receive God’s grace through faith.

As Baptist, we seek teach the truth through which God has ordained to save men and women. We

believe that the Holy Scripture teaches that the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the gospel. We

believe that it is the immediate duty of all to accept them by cordial and obedient faith and that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth except his own voluntary refusal to submit to the Lord Jesus Christ, which refusal will subject him to an eternal condemnation.

We believe that by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, you shall be saved. Faith in anything else will not avail. We believe that this is God’s plan and hence the only plan of salvation. We believe that God deserves all the glory.

As Baptist, we believe that the Bible is the Authority for the way we practice our faith in moral

responsibility, theological beliefs, and relationship with God and our fellow man. We believe the Bible and not the Church or the preacher has the final say in the way we practice our faith as Christians.

We believe that all Christians should read and study the Bible. We believe that the Bible was written by men divinely inspired and it is record of God’s revelation of Himself to man. As Baptist, we believe that the Bible teaches that when a person makes a decision to become a Christian, baptism by immersion follows that decision as a public testimony of one’s faith in Christ. We do not believe that baptism is required for salvation, but that it is a symbolic testimony of our faith in Christ.

As Baptist, we have two ordinances: The Lord’s Supper and Baptism by Immersion. We believe that by practice of observing the Lord’s Supper reminds us of the great price Jesus paid for the forgiveness of our sins by sacrificing His life for us on the cross. Baptist believes that none are scripturally entitled to partake of the Lord’s Supper except such as have made a credible profession of faith. We believe that baptism properly

precedes the Lord’s Supper just as Jesus was baptized at the beginning of His ministry and instituted the Supper just prior to His death.

We believe that baptism by immersion is a symbolic description of what occurs in salvation. We are completely cleansed of all sin, and we died to sin and selfishness. Burial is symbolized as one goes under the water, and we rise a new life identifying with the resurrected Lord Jesus (symbolized) one comes up out of the water).

We believe that every Christian has direct access to God through Jesus Christ. We do not have to go through another person to confess our sins to God or to pray to God. We believe in the authority of the local church, where we may have different roles of leadership in the church.

As Baptist, we believe in Missions. Every Christian in every legitimate way, all the time, everywhere according to ability ought to seek to spread the knowledge of Jesus and the way of salvation.
